THE DOMAIN

This is a family property of around 16,25 hectares of vines, located in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune (encompassing the appellations of Chorey, Savigny, Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix), at Ladoix, just within sight of the boundary of the Côte de Nuits. Production is principally red from 14 hectares of Pinot Noir, 1.5 hectares of Chardonnay and 0.75 hectare of Aligoté. The domaine is run by Pierre, Edith his wife and his cousin Emmanuel. Edmond, although now retired, continues to lend invaluable support, whether imparting advice or giving a helping hand when needed. Edith and Pierre's daughter Lucie joined the domaine in 2020, after completing her winegrowing and winemaking studies and then acquiring work experience in France (Champagne, Rhône Valley, Provence, etc.) and abroad (New Zealand, South Africa and Oregon).

The property has evolved with the passage of time by adapting to economic, technical and social challenges. Since many years, the domaine has thrown itself into the commercialisation of its harvest (which is always 100% bottled on site), and supported growth by making some key investments (in equipment, buildings and commercial infrastructure).

THE VINE

Working with respect for the planet, plants and people, the domaine uses integrated pest management and received the "Agriculture Raisonnée" label in 2007. In 2011, it obtained Environmental Certification, and in 2019, Level 3 HVE (High Environmental Value) certification. This certification represents a long-term commitment to sustainable management involving things such as controlling the balance between the growth of the green manure crops and that of the vines.

They employ suitable methods to maintain this balance (by means of plant protection products, manures, vine-friendly products, etc.). By adopting this philosophy, the vine develops in harmony with its surroundings (i.e. the flora and fauna), thus facilitating the growth of exceptional grapes, which are healthy and able to reach maximum ripeness. By applying these guiding principles, the winemaking at this property doesn’t necessitate any bolstering to deliver quality wines endowed with beautiful personalities.

THE WINES

Delicacy, finesse and elegance are how Pierre, Emmanuel and Lucie like to describe their wines. "Our vinifications preserve the character of the appellations. We strive to respect the terroirs and the grape varieties".

The hand-harvested grapes arrive in the domaine's vat room in small tubs. There they are sorted and partially destemmed. The traditional vinification is carefully controlled using modern technical equipment to preserve the typical character of each climat (terroir). The wines are aged for 12-18 months in oak barrels, depending on the vintage and the cuvée.
