Origine
To the south of the Grands Crus area, the domaine’s 0.38 hectare plot of vines is located in the upper part of the “Aux Mazoyères” climat, on a small hillock separated from “Les Latricières” by the “Route des Grands Crus”. In this terroir, the limestone rock is covered by a thin layer of white marl and an impressive quantity of flat stones that have accumulated on the Combe Gisard alluvial fan. With a gentle slope ensuring good drainage and run-off, these old vines (over 60 years old) use their deep roots to draw out precious mineral elements from the fissured rocky subsoil.
Vinification
The use of a gentle, almost 3-week-long, vinification process (virtually an infusion), with no inputs or mechanical extraction, creates a pure wine that artlessly reveals its noble personality. Naturally full-bodied, our Charmes-Chambertin can sometimes be vinified with some whole bunches of grapes to add to its complexity and depth.
Notes de dégustation
This terroir produces a wine of great class and distinction with powerful and enticing aromas, sumptuous complexity and great balance. The wine's finesse then comes to the fore, its firmness is evident and its suppleness melds harmoniously with its vibrant acidity and minerality.
Mets d'accompagnements
A noble, distinguished Grand Cru, our Charmes-Chambertin is a wine for long cellar-ageing that will build in intensity and acquire greater length. It will then be a perfect match for game. When young, its fruit and finesse will be beautifully complemented by red meat or a stuffed capon.
