Origine
The village of Monthélie lies in the heart of the famous Côte de Beaune appellation zone. The two parcels of "Les Champs Fuillots" and "Sur La Velle", both certified as Premier Cru, are harvested to produce this label.
The soils are predominantly limestone, mixed with clays in proportions that vary greatly from one locale to the next.
Vinification
The harvested grapes are destemmed and then given a few days cold maceration, followed by 12-15 days at an increased temperature in 500-litre demi-muid vats, whose tops were removed for the duration of the vinification process. Aged in barrels.
Notes de dégustation
A nicely-colored red wine, it develops powerful aromas buoyed by small red or black berries and moss from the forest floor. This "premier cru" label is tangy and sturdy thanks to the presence of tannins featuring a most distinct bouquet and quite often combined with finesse and subtleness (fragrances such as violet).
Mets d'accompagnements
The power of the Monthélie label provides an elegant, accompaniment for the most prestigious dishes, like roasted lamb and poultry in sauce.
