Bright young straw colour. Pure nose a cool and restrained style with chalky notes, fresh citrus, lemongrass and white fleshed fruit. Medium weight, a fresh backbone, salivating without any oak presence with fine purity and length.

Le domaine Bernard Moreau se trouve à Macôn, dans la partie sud de la région et près du village de Mancey. Dans ce millésime 2021, Bernard a élaboré un Chardonnay frais avec des arômes plus riches.
de fruits à noyau mûrs tels que la pêche, l'abricot et un soupçon de citron vert, avec une intégration le piquant du baril. La bouche est jeune et dynamique, avec des fruits à noyau, des notes tropicales subtiles et une acidité vive, soutenue par une poignée d'agrumes et d'épices. Finale persistante avec une légère touche de vanille provenant des fûts.

THE BEST RED WINES TO HAVE CHILLED

Those of you who tuned into TalkRadio on Saturday would have heard me talk to Kevin O’Sullivan about how some red wines are perfect for chilling in this warmer weather. It’s certainly true that some wine grapes and wine styles work better than others when it comes to what goes in the fridge, so here’s what you need to know:

TIPS FOR DRINKING CHILLED RED WINE

• Chilled, not cold. No red wine will sing when it is too cold, so really, you want about 45 mins max in the fridge. Avoid ice cubes in your glass too. 
• Avoid heavy, dry tannic wines and oaky wines.
• Fruity styles of wine work best.

Some grape varieties are naturally more fruity and less tannic than others, so get to know them and the styles of wine they make. Here are some to look out for: 

PINOT NOIR 

A Pinot Noir (the grape) from just about anywhere will be a good shout for a chilled red wine thanks to its high acidity and thin skin that gives very little tooth-drying tannin. The lightest styles tend to come from the Burgundy region (aka Bourgogne) and the likes of Germany, where it's also known as Spätburgunder. Richer styles will come from warmer climates such as Casablanca Valley in Chile or Sonoma in California. Try these:

Fleurs blanches, pamplemousse, épices et miel, l'approche est engageante. La bouche offre une jolie fraîcheur citronnée, de la souplesse et de la légèreté, avec ce qu'il faut de gras pour arrondir les angles. Équilibré.

Robe or clair brillant. Nez agréable sur la pomme, la poire, le citron, la vanille, note grillée en fond. Bouche souple, du gras, de l'ampleur, une belle fraîcheur persistante. Ensemble équilibré, harmonieux. A servir sur un fromage de chèvre frais.

Robe rubis plutôt soutenu, reflets pourpres. Nez plaisant, fraise, groseille, cerise, quelques épices en retrait. Bouche souple, fraîche, fruitée. Tanins polis. Matière légère. Ensemble friand qui privilégie le fruit. Sur un gibier.

Robe or plutôt soutenu éclatant. Nez plaisant, fruits secs, fruits exotiques, fruits à pépins, quelques épices. Bouche veloutée, ample, du gras, des arômes de noisette, d'amande portés par une fraîcheur intense. Equilibré et raffiné. Beau millésime.

TASTING & MATCHING - HIDDEN BURGUNDY

The bargain hunters
Burgundy is not the first place you’d normally go looking for value money. Clinton Cawood
joined a team of hopeful sommeliers as they went truffling for bargains from the côtes.
Wines from the more prestigious and well-known Burgundian appellations can sell for prices that border on the absurd, with their capacity for ageing driving their prices even higher. But it’s not all Grand Cru vineyards out there, with the vast majority of Burgundy selling at more reasonable levels. Not only are these more standard wines the staple of every wine list, but if you get them right there’s no question that some of these cheaper offerings can bear a striking similarity to their more expensive neighbours at a fraction of the cost. We gathered together a series of wines from lesser-known producers or less prestigious appellations in search of cheaper Burgundies that really do over-deliver.
How it works: We asked numbers of suppliers to submit Burgundian Wines from lesser-Known appellations that represented value- not necessarily just wines that were cheap. We received a fairly even number of red and white submissions. Wines were tasted blind, with reds and whites arranged in order of price. The result are presented using a genuine 100-point scale, so marks below 50 were quite possible.
