Qui sommes-nous ?

Closerie de Thorins

Edouard Parinet

La Closerie des Thorins has been found in the heart of the prestigious Moulin-à-Vent appellation since 1732. The domaine, located in the far southern end of Burgundy, has 37 hectares of vines.

Its vineyard plots, recognized as being of exceptional quality, lie in the appellation’s finest terroirs (Champ de Cour, The Vérillats, La Rochelle, etc.).

The domaine is now run by Jean-Jacques Parinet and he has given it new impetus in an ambitious drive for quality.

The estate's 30 hectares are planted at a density of 9,000 vines per hectare. The yield is kept very low, between 20 and 35 hectolitres per hectare depending on the plot, to help ensure that the wines possess a lovely concentration and a strong terroir character.

All our domaine’s plots are trellised with a Gobelet-style pruning. The granitic soil, rich in iron oxide, copper and manganese, creates lovely harmonious wines made from the appellation’s only grape variety, the Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc. The wines are planted in several lieux-dits, including Le Champ de Cour, Les Thorins and Les Vérillats, with a varied array of soils, which are subsequently brought out in the production of single vineyard wines.

The Domaine has replaced all its barrels and now boasts 200 barrels from the finest coopers. The variety and grain of the oak, the toasting and the barrel sizes have all been carefully selected to ensure perfect balance in the wines.

Optimization of natural micro-oxygenation, adapting the length of the ageing, respect for the specific character of the vintage and the terroir: Everything that can be done is done to obtain the highest level of quality, vintage after vintage. Today, because of these new demanding quality standards, the domaine is able to offer a range of outstanding wines.
